- In the 1930's, a man named William Haight took over an abandoned oil derrick at the summit of Turnbull Canyon in the Hacienda Heights / Whittier area. William built a laboratory at the top of the derrick. This laboratory housed a device that had the ability to manipulate the weather... Mr. Haight called this device, "The Electrodome."
